9.24北京爵士音乐周 | 加拿大的Gia Group——现代爵士，变化莫测
GIA的莫测爵士(GIA & THEUNPREDICTABLE UPDATE)是由顶级的加拿大爵士乐手组成。他们各具盛名，各有特色。有加拿大Juno Award得主、音乐教授、国际名作曲家……他们体现了现代爵士乐精神，出神入化的演出令人叹为观止。无论在成员组合上，或音乐的制作上，每次莫测爵士的演出都带给观众一种变幻莫测的惊喜。
不断地带出丰富的音乐对话，源源不绝地奏出对立而和谐的乐章。作曲家兼琴手的GIA更杷各种不同的音乐元素融入他的创作，音乐风格包含了最摩登前卫的现代爵士，有摇滚，有融合，以及世界音乐。他作品有着独特的多元性和包容性，特显出一种加拿大人的精神。
成员
GIA有极高的音乐造诣，出身于艺术与科学家庭，集感性和理性于一身。自故乡罗马尼亚，到旅居以色列，演出无数。
Juno Award获奖者Johnny Johnson，是一个在多伦多乐坛非常知名的色士风者。
Pat Kilbride已玩音乐超过25年。他在多个国家及地区巡回演出，如：加拿大，美国和欧洲。
Wilson Laurencin在美国纽约研究鼓乐。他曾与BenE. King、The Philosopher Kings等音乐家合作过。
Gia started to take piano lessons when hewas just three years old. He started with classical music. Around the age ofseven, he was already crazy about pop and blues. Although a family ofscientists, his parents were listening to a lot of music so he got involved ata very early age. Gia would occupy most of his time with Jazz and a wholecollection of old scores including romanza, nocturnes and ragtime. Listening tothe great rock bands of the seventies helped him to decide to pursue a careerin music.
The new band he put together was called"Om", sensational trio, very energetic and successful. Recordingsessions, lots of gigs, composition and orchestration sessions, TV, radio andlife performances followed. He achieved success on the main stage of the rockand jazz festivals in his native Romania at Sibiu, Iasi, Craiova, Timisora,Costinesti, Constanta, Brasov and Mamaia. Collaborations with No. 1 guitaristin Romania, Dan Andrei Aldea ( producer for Saragossa Band ) including moviemusic. Gia put together a jazz septet featuring Bogdan Enescu on drums, andrecorded his first rock opera featuring Decebal Badila, bass extraordinaire,Sharga Milutinovici, drums and assorted percussion. A supergroup followedfeaturing Cobo Popesco, composer, violin, guitars, and Sorin Scurtu (ofHyperion fame, internationally acclaimed "ensemble contemporain",leader Iancu Dumitrescu).
